My name is Cory and I am the Founder and CEO of The Red Oak Refillery, as well as a certified Climate Reality Leader, and Sustainability Consultant and Mentor. I have always felt a calling to help keep Earth clean and now more than ever I pledge to take care of our planet's trees.

You see, we have a problem.  According to seedscientific.com, 300 million tons of plastic waste is produced every year, which is growing at a rate of 9% annually. Because of this, 1 million marine animals die every year. In addition, every person consumes around 70,000 microplastics each year. According to sciencedirect.com, studies show increased cancer risk in humans due to microplastics exposure.

 

What's more, it takes 500-1,000 years for plastic to decompose, and this process releases more microplastics into Earth’s soil and waters. Because only about 9% of plastics are currently being recycled, by the year 2040, it is expected that there will be 1.3 billion tons of plastic waste polluting the environment. That’s a 43% increase from the year 2020! 

 

Thank goodness, according to pewresearch.org in 2020, a study showed that 88% of Americans believe taking care of the earth is very important. High five to us!
